We're the ones your mother warned your about...No, seriously. We are.

Shehawken - Hundreds of things that you probably didn't know before

1. I resisted this as long as I could. I have now come to realize that it's like the Berlitz course of friend learning and have made my peace with it.

2. I am on the cusp of turning 30 (October 24th).

3. I am back and forth about the emotions of this fact. I think maybe I should ask Dao what it's like.

4. For years, I have associated myself with what work I happened to be doing. From working in the canning factory to running an experimental ag chemical testing program, I have poured myself into my jobs.

5. Considering how lazy I can tend to be otherwise, this seeming inbred Puritan work ethic shocks me constantly.

6. I plan to never take a working vacation, ever. If I am not at work, work should have no claim on me. Ditto for home improvements... once I own a home.

7. I am a Christian. And by that, I mean born again through Christ, sinner saved by Grace kind of Christian. I honestly don't think Jesus was kidding when he said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man (I'm fairly certain this is the unisex version) comes to the Father but by me." (John 14:6) So, yes, it means I don't accept the "multi paths" version of spirituality.

8. Saying so does not mean I think I am "better" than anyone else. I think we're all about at the same level from birth. I just happen to think I'm right about this.

9. Denominationally speaking, I'm Baptist. I'm actually strangely pleased with the cachet this seems to carry with people who seem to perversely fear them.

10. I curse a lot for a Christian. Thank God I seem to avoid the blaspheming, though. It's an area in which I require work.

11. Theatre is one of my passions, in all its many and varied forms... except maybe performance art. It may have something to do with the fact that I'm not comfortable enough being the center of attention or making statements as performance artists seem to do.

12. I have been acting since... hmm, have to check, but I think I was 12

13. I am good. Not "make a living at it" good, but good.

15. I prefer musicals to straight plays, which is odd considering I'm not so good with the dancing.

16. My favorite role so far is a toss up between Emile de Becque (South Pacific, senior year) and Jesus (Godspell). de Becque is a role I'd like to revisit to see if I could do it better.

17. The best thing about acting is the ability to wear a mask, the skin, of another person for a few weeks. On a personal note, it means I can hide myself on stage while still being fully visible.

18. I have never been skinny. ever. I get away with being heavier because I'm tall.

19. I've reached a weight where this trick no longer works.

20. I get kind of scared about my weight getting to a point where it limits my activities or causes health problems that debilitate me. And then I get busy and put changes off for a while longer.

21. Conversationally, I can go on tangent after tangent until the original thread no longer has any relation to where I end up. This makes my stories long and rambly.

22. I meet people a lot who say, "I never knew you were a Christian." This raises many red flags for me, personally.

23. I dated one girl in high school, senior year.

24. I loved a different girl through high school and into college.

25. Both of these women are now married with a child.

26. I was the first one to give #23 flowers.

27. Within weeks, we were apart. reasons? a) she had to be in my personal space almost constantly, b) I realized #24 and it was in no way fair to #23

28. The peak of my dating prowess was 1st grade. I was dating 3 girls at once.

29. One of the girl's brothers picked a fight with me. He was in 3rd grade. I had him pinned down when the crossing guard broke it up.

30. This is the last active fight I think I've had in my life (not counting holding people back in bars).

31. I applied to the United States Air Force Academy.

32. I had 2 of the 3 nominations I applied for, the endorsement of my liason officer and was academically set. ~1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the process.

33. I washed out after I failed the physical aptitude exam... twice. Pull-ups and the timed run did me in.

34. It was my dream. I was crushed. Lack of military service will probably be one of my few regrets in this life.

35. hunh, looking, it seems I could still enlist for the next 4 years. hmmm

36. I try to read the source material to every show I'm in. My biggest coup was finding a copy of "7 1/2 cents," the book upon which The Pajama Game is based.

37. The worst book I found through this process was "Anna and the King of Siam." Heavens was that boring.

38. I am unilingual- english. I have smatterings of French and teensy bits of German and Polish.

39. I want my children to be at least bilingual.

40. I don't, at present, have said children.

41. I was occasionally spanked as a child. Not often and never at a time when I a)didn't know it was coming and b)didn't know I absolutely deserved it.

42. My parents only attempt at a curfew came when I was a senior in HS. I told my mom that it was a little late for starting that and, besides, I was only out late on the weekends and she always knew where I was.

43. I think my parents always thought I was doing far more than I actually was, including drinking/smoking/sex/etc. Which is fine, it meant they were concerned about me.

44. I've never actually partaken in any drugs outside of alcohol (with the possible exceptions of contact highs at a Pink Floyd Concert in Philly and at a party where there was a lot of smoke in a small room).

45. I don't know as I've ever felt very tempted to expand my horizons, either.

46. One of my exes from college is known as evil Becky.

47. I've lately felt as though I should stop calling her this, but it's how she is generally known in my circle of friends.

48. The odd thing was it was (and may still be) my most serious dating relationship and, by the timelines, it turned out that I was the "other man."

49. Have to say that that got into my head for quite some time.

50. My friend, Aaron, has been my friend since we were both in elementary school.

51. I think he more qualifies for brother (or at least cousin) than just friend. We certainly fight like we're related.

52. I drink. Probably more than I should (that is, at one sitting).

53. Social drinking never made sense to me. Go hard or go home was my philosophy in college.

54. Not coincidentally, I never experienced lost time periods until college.

55. I like wine, but I try not to be a snob. Quite frankly, if it appeals to me, I don't care much if it came from France or a box.

56. I do hold a loyalty to wine from the Finger Lakes region, though. There's some chaff, sure, but our better producers have been doing well in international competitions for several years, now.

57. I have only intentionally tried to hurt someone else a couple of times in my life. Unintentionally is another story.

58. I feel being bigger and stronger than a lot of people means that I should be much more considerate about others personal space.

59. My sister and I used to have knock down drag out fights when we were kids over silly things like the tv remote. She used to gouge marks in my arm with her nails, mostly because I wouldn't cry out. I would then simply show my arm to my mother. Being the youngest had its benefits.

60. My sister was one of the people I hurt, once. A bruise. I cried after that.

61. On the rare days I have "hulk mad, hulk smash" moments, I tend to pick on inanimate objects like a heavy bag or a piece of wood.

62. I have scars on my hands and arms from work and building sets.

63. I am proud of these scars.

64. If I am trying to communicate about a very emotional subject (like back at #48), both my hands and voice will shake.

65. I had pizza for easily half my meals last week. Turns out you can get sick of it.

66. I have to be very, very comfortable with someone before I will hug them first.

67. I fear for the salvation of members of my extended family.

68. I hate confrontation, but I don't necessarily fear it.

69. My 3rd roommate freshman year, Keith, and I once almost had a fistfight over he and his gf's "thinking of you" signal- let phone ring once and then hang up. Instead, we decided we wanted dinner.

70. I have never fired an actual gun. Paintball, pellet and starter's? yes. Real gun? no.

71. I left engineering in college in part because I feared working at a desk for 20 years. I now am in my second year of a desk job at ACS. *sigh*

72. Every once in a while, I realize that I talk a lot about my online friends to the ones I see every day. I think they might know about most of you by description if not by sight.

73. I didn't have to wear glasses until my first year of college. It's kind of spiralled since then.

74. I played soccer (football for the non-Americans) from 8 years old until I graduated high school. It's been sporadic since then.

75. I have never played football (american football for the non-americans). Both my high school coach, my friend Chris, and occasionally me think that this is kind of sad.

76. I can identify with Fezzik from The Princess Bride.

77. In platform shoes, wrapped in bandages and in dim light, I am downright terrifying.

78. I used to be an avid reader. Now I'm an avid reader as time allows.

79. It took me 6-7 tries to get through "Crime and Punishment"

80. It is my opinion that "CaP" is a glorious love story ruined by a lot of political rambling. She followed him to Siberia, for Pete's sake!

81. My mind is a deep, dark place which will randomly spew out quotes from any number of sources. Most of the time, they fit the occasion. It's frightening.

82. Listing my favorite films always gets silly, so I usually stick to Mannequin and The Commitments (taking the Star Wars trilogy as read).

83. I consider New York's new draconian anti-smoking laws (taking effect this week) to be one of the most asinine things I've ever heard.

84. I love this country, not so much for what it is, but what it once was and could still be again.

85. I am claustrophobic. I'm more in control of it now than I used to be but it can still take me unawares when I'm sleeping.

86. As a child, I used to have hysterical fits in the middle of the night, crying, screaming and occasionally moving. I would wake up and have no memory of those times.

87. I almost drowned in a pool when I was very young. This may feed into the claustrophobia.

88. If its absolutely quiet, I have a very hard time getting to sleep.

89. I usually sleep with a fan on, for the white noise.

90. I love my family.

91. I don't read my Bible near enough.

92. I don't tell my family (all of them) I love them near enough.

93. I've found that sometimes the most offbeat things I say can have the longest lasting impressions on people.

94. I have a very poor memory for names and I'm tired of people remembering me when I have no recollection of what their name is.

95. I love singing classical choral music and in foreign languages but rarely have any interest in listening to them.

96. I have pulled over and stopped the car just so I could watch the sun rise.

97. I don't ever want to tell someone they're beautiful and not mean it.

98. Keira Knightley is my imaginary girlfriend. Unlike my past imaginary girlfriends whom you didn't know, they went to another school.

99. I like living in the "home of women's rights" in the US, but I think that the monument on the site of the first meeting is possibly one of the ugliest buildings I've ever seen.

100.I'm half Polish, half Swedish and all American.
